And that's a wrap!

Aaaaaaand that’s a wrap!

Recently I’ve been working on a fun little project to combine my two loves: knitting design and dyeing wool. I have created this wrap pattern as a way to do just that! It is a super simple, elegant stockinette wrap (with an option for changing up the colourblock section with a bit of lace if you’re feeling sassy) that is perfect tv knitting or an easy project to shove in your knitting bag and take on the road.

Since the pattern is showcasing my yarn, it seems only logical to create some kits for you guys. The kits will include 3 skeins of fingering weight yarn (enough to complete the pattern), the knitting pattern, 9 buttons, and a bit of a behind-the-scenes look at the names of the colourways you chose to make your wrap. The kits will be $100 AUD + shipping. I will also make everything available separately.

This project was a lot of fun for me since it means I got to play with some colours! There are pre-prepared sets of colourways for you to choose from for your kits and I’ve named them accordingly:

Appreciate the Little Things Kit – filled with colourways inspired by the little things in life that we sometimes take for granted. The things that make a moment special and that give us memories that stay with us forever. When you knit with this kit, I hope you will take the time to think about some of the special little things in your life and give thanks for them.

Experience Nature Today Kit – filled with colourways inspired by nature and the sensual experience of being outdoors. For me personally, there isn’t anything more calming and liberating than spending time with nature. Time seems to slow there and I hope when you knit with this kit, it makes you want to go sit in the park, throw a blanket under a tree, and enjoy the day.

Home is Where the Heart Is Kit – filled with colourways inspired by things from my home. This includes my dear friends, my family, and the seasonal colours of Ohio. We don’t get significant shifts in season in Australia and that is something I desperately miss from home. That and s’mores. Why don’t Australians have s’mores? Anyway, I’m getting sidetracked but I hope when you knit with this kit, you think about all of the wonderful memories of home, no matter how far away it may be.

The Sweetness of Life Kit – filled with colourways inspired by the sweetest things in life. This includes friendship and berry pie. Those lovely little things that make you sit in a moment for a while and say, “How sweet is life.” I hope when you knit with this kit that you remember how sweet life can be despite all of the sourness that seems to weigh us down. So have a bit of ice cream on me, not because you need it, but because you deserve it.

How the kits will work:

Now for a bit of admin. Each set includes options of 4 different colourways and you can choose those in any combination for your 3 skeins. You can get 3 different colours, 3 of the same colour, whatever you want. You are unfortunately limited by what is listed as an option, but if you have an amazing colourway set that you absolutely have to have that isn’t included, shoot me an email! I can create a custom order for you.

The pattern that you receive will be a downloadable PDF that has been professionally tech edited and test knitted.

Test knitters: If you want to test knit this pattern for me, I would love to hear from you! If you choose to test knit and want to knit your sample in my yarn, you will receive a 25% discount on your yarn. You are also welcome to use your own stash yarn, but I would like all of the wraps to use yarn from indie dyers. If you would like to be a test knitter, please send me an email at info@knitcraftandknittery.com or a message on Ravelry/Instagram. Those are the easiest ways to reach me. I will start compiling a list of all interested parties, check your Instagram and Ravelry pages for photography, and then send you a final email about whether you’ve been selected. I am most interested in test knitters that are active on Instagram as that is my major social media platform. The deadline will be announced as soon as I have the pattern back from the tech editor (approximately Aug 2 start date).

You will need: 1,200 m (1,300 yds) of 4ply fingering weight wool, 3.0mm and 3.75mm (US 2.5 and 5) needles, and 9 18mm (3/4 in) buttons.

Test knitters will be compensated with 1 free pattern and a personalised coupon for $20 AUD off their next purchase from my website.

Instagram Giveaway: Of cooooourse we have to have a giveaway! One kit will be available as a giveaway prize through Instagram as soon as all of the pieces are together and ready to go!

Kit preorders: The kits will be available for pre-order around the beginning/middle of September. The perfect time of year to start making a lightweight but cosy little accessory. Keep your eyes peeled for announcements on Instagram. They will be shipped approximately 2 weeks after you place your order.

And that’s a wrap KAL: I would love to host a KAL once the kits are released. If you are interested in donating any prizes for the KAL, please contact me through info@knitcraftandknittery.com. I would love to hear from you! It will be a very relaxed KAL with no strict rules or deadlines to meet, and will most likely run through the end of October/November (timing is still variable depending on the earlier factors.)
