Hannah has long been an advocate for non-superwash and environmentally-conscious wool and reached out to me to work on these socks with her as a non-superwash, no nylon sock design. I share Hannah's love for no-plastic socks and love that more attention is being drawn to the benefits of knitting no-nylon socks in non-superwash yarns. Hannah used my 4ply Sustainable Australian Merino in the colorway Murphy Brown.
For the best results with these socks, I would choose a solid color and wear them primarily as house socks. Although many wools or blends are very strong and suitable for rougher wear, the merino that Hannah chose to showcase in these socks will likely struggle to keep up with everyday wear in shoes. If you still want to try a non-superwash and no-nylon sock yarn that will be able to handle a bit more wear, check out my New Zealand Corriedale yarn. It makes a great alternative.
